Renegade street rocker/song poet Tom Ovans released his 11th album Party Girl (FW 032) on October 1st 2007 as a follow up to 2005's acclaimed 'Honest Abe And The Assassins'. With Ovans' controversial voice never sounding better, these 12 new songs (one of which, 'Both Sides Of The Night', was written in 1975 whilst he was 'crashing in the Washington Square Plaza Hotel in Greenwich Village') continue his restless, edgy musical assault.

Taking Honest Abe's rambling spirit and late night dirty feel into a small local studio, Ovans found himself recording live onto analog with a fiery rhythm section. While a rare Austin ice storm raged outside, they created an album of powerful, swaggering rock songs and tender off-the- grid ballads. Overdubbing a few added guitar parts, percussion and backing vocals the album was finished and mixed in a handful of sessions.

Guitar great Larry Chaney returns on electric guitar, his first appearance on a Tom Ovans album since 1995's transcendent 'Tales From The Underground'. Singer Lou Ann Bardash also returns, providing searing backing vocals on three tracks.

"Recorded in the middle of an ice storm the follow up to 2005's mighty Honest Abe And The Assassins captures Ovans in unrepentantly hard faced form - his raw rasping voice zeroes in on a world where 'reality's a freak show I don't believe anymore' while cauterising guitars blaze". UnCut **** 4/5
